Stop Sign Ticket Lawyer
Los Angeles
Our stop sign ticket lawyers know the California roll. It’s a popular term; it is also a violation of California stop sign laws. Getting a ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign can result in a point on your driving record and a hike in your insurance rates.
Know Your Rights
The traffic court judge has the ability to use his or her own discretion when reviewing certain circumstances that may have been beyond your ability to control at a stop sign. For example, if we are able to prove that your conduct was the result of an error that was honest and reasonable, the court might find that you made a “mistake of fact” and could dismiss your ticket.
Some examples of these stop sign defenses include:
- You did not see the crosswalk markers because they were not clearly visible
- The stop sign was not hidden because a tree is blocking it
We can introduce the proper evidence to prove your defense and get your stop sign ticket dismissed. Often this argument comes down to your claim that you weren’t given fair notice as to the conduct that was expected of you. For example, a judge might dismiss a stop sign ticket if the sign was recently placed at the location of the violation. However, the judge would probably not agree with this defense if:
- the stop sign had been there for a couple weeks or more
- you were speeding
